1 killed and 4 injured in head-on collision.

Late Saturday night a 2 car head-on collision on Highway 20 resulted in 1 death and 4 injured.  The accident occurred around 11:15 p.m. causing a portion of the highway near Marina Drive to be shut down until early Sunday morning.  It is unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the accident.

A 2004 Chevy Silverado was traveling eastbound on the highway at about 50 mph as a 1997 Ford van was traveling westbound at about 60 mph.  For reasons not known at this time, the Ford vehicle drifted out of the westbound lane and into the eastbound lane causing the collision.  The 41 year-old female driver from Lower Lake sustained injuries that proved to be fatal.

In her van were two passengers, ages 27 and 20 who also sustained injuries to the chest and left hand.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 45 year-old man sustained a minor chest injury while his passenger received moderate injuries to her entire right side and neck area.
